Dear Gertrude,

Yours of Jan. 16 reached me only as

late as two weeks ago, on account of the courier delays. Of course, it was very welcome. I have been thinking of writing to you, only the Second All-

China Labour Congress has been keeping me very busy.

I have just finished my work connected with the

Congress and am returning to His ( His, crossed out) the Crow Colony.

The congress lasted seven days and

passed about 13 resolutions. Especially significant

is the formation of an All-China Labour Federation

and its adhesion to the Profintern. I have forgotten

to say that there were about 276 delegates from about two hundred and some unions throughout the

million? country, representing about five hundred organised workers. A Revolutionary atmosphere prevailed throughout the congress. Needless to say, the congress

marks a new page in the history of the Chinese

labour movement, in that it has made a good start for the unification of the Labour Organisations in China and for their unity with the western proletariat. As soon as I finish some urgent work in Hongkong, I will sit down to write a more or less detailed report. Now that I have just bought a new portable Remington, I will try to write for our Western publications. It is such a good machine that I no love for the one that I have sold through your good offices.
